The FEDS "Total Information Awareness Program" (TIA) Thriving... Just Under A Different Name

The Information Awareness Office was a branch of the Department of Defense’s "Defense Advance Research Projects Agency "/index.php?title=Defense_Advanced_Research_Projects_Agency  (DARPA) whose mission was to "imagine, develop, apply, integrate, demonstrate and transition information technologies, components and prototype, closed-loop, information systems that will counter asymmetric threats by achieving total information awareness."

The program was purported to "attempt to thwart terrorists before they act". Authorities would be enabled to gather as much information as possible about everyone in a centralized location for by the United States government, in order to shorten their pursuit time of a "suspect" individual.

Credit card purchases, bank records, grocery purchases, travel itineraries, telephone records, cell phone records, snail mail, email, internet searches and activity, medical histories, tax returns, car rental, hotel rental, and financial information. Names, ages, and photos of your friends, relatives, and neighbors. Your address, make, model and year of your car, license plate number and lastly the brand name of the underwear you prefer to wear...

Okay, the last one I made up, but you get the picture. Anything and everything traceable and recordable would be continually gathered and stored giving government the power to generate a comprehensive data profile on every U.S. citizen. The right to privacy would be a mere memory.

Conspiracy theorists and civil rights groups went bezerk! So much commotion was raised that the DOD eventually backed down and withdrew funding from the program and, at least publicly, abandoned it altogether.

...Or did they just continue with the program under a different name? A name that no one would dare question or suspect and even if they did, the chosen organization would have such a high outward moral appearance that it would simply be discounted or overlooked altogether.

Add some fear and propaganda to the mix. Terrify the people into believing they are in danger and that all of this is necessary to keep us and those most vulnerable, our children, safe. Throughout history governments have been keenly aware of the effect fear has on a society. To slowly but effectively take from societies, those things which keep them free. It is a very frightening thought.

Enter the NCMEC (National Center For Missing and Exploited Children). John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted is the founder. A self styled, vigilante, tough on crime guy sporting a black leather jacket. His 6 year old sons abduction and murder the driving force behind all that he does. The question is; Is he a grieving parent or a political puppet? Testifying before congress that our streets are littered with the "mutilated ,decapitated bodies of children". He cries of sexual predators, sex offenders, and child molesters to him and to the public "they" are all the same. "They cannot be cured", They" need to be taken off our streets. Year after year he (illegally) lobbies congress. Gives sworn testimony which is riddled with misinformation and half truths. He does it because he’s mad. Because his son’s killer has never been caught.

The government takes notice. At first, they barely gave Mr. Walsh the time of day, hoping he would just "go back to Florida", let alone give him space and a microphone on the floor of the house. But suddenly things change.

The (NCMEC) organization is now made up of a very interesting array of characters. Many with questionable pasts and a desire to capitalize on the fear that Mr. Walsh helps to generate.

Current Board members are former and current CIA, Secret Service, FBI, U.S. Customs directors(some who own companies that stand to benefit greatly from this affiliation), an ex-senator who was embroiled in a savings and loan scandal, an ex-chairman of the judiciary, A senior policy advisor for Federal Government Relations, a former U.S.Deputy Attorney General, Lobbying attorney’s, the U.S. Postal Inspector, Data Mining Guru Hank Asher, and his partner Robbie Callaway (a.k.a. "the Washington Money Man"), A corrupt Orange County California Sheriff with mob buddies and a tolerance for sexual harassment, an advisory board member of the DHS (Department of Homeland Security), The top technology patent holder in the United States, and the owner of ADVO Inc, which is the company responsible for mailing out the "Have you seen me" flyers with missing children.

Did I mention that the NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is a "Non-Profit" Organization? Seems kind of hard to believe considering how many of their board members continually testify before congress on behalf of the organization (which is supposedly illegal).

I have been dying to get my hands on their audit, which is required of non-profits which expend more than $300,000 in Federal monies (see OMB circular A-133), but so far no one seems willing to respond. I’ve called the NCMEC itself, as well as the Office of Budget and Management (OMB), as well as the department of justice (USDOJ). No response from any of them.

The audit should itemize the costs and expenditures associated with running the corporation as well as list any pass through sub recipients ( like the lobbying firms or ADVO Inc. for example). The audit should be "open to the public" as it is a 501 ©) non-profit with $32 million and more of our tax dollars being spent every year. But I already know where it’s going. I already know how it’s being spent and it scares the hell out of me.
